Game pre-loading will arrive on the Xbox One with FIFA 15 and Forza Horizon 2 this September, Xbox head Phil Spencer announced during Microsoft’s Gamescom 2014 press conference.
Fifa 15 is the latest installment in the long running football series which will feature Ultimate Team Exclusive to the Xbox One when it launches on September 25th while Forza Horizon 2 will be the follow up to 2012’s Forza Horizon for the Xbox 360 and will be the 2nd title in the Forza series on the Xbox One. Both will be the first titles to utilize the pre-order & pre-download feature.
Microsoft has been working on the feature, which will allow those who pre-order games to download them to their consoles before release, for some time. In April, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb reiterated that Microsoft was still working on the feature. Using the pre-loading technology, Xbox One owners will be able to play the games immediately upon their release.
Pre-loading arrived on the PlayStation 4 in an April update but its nice to see that Microsoft are catching up to their rivals.
