After impressing everybody two years in a row at E3; It looks like The Division could be impressing us a lot later than we had originally hoped.

Tom Clancy’s The Division was revealed at E3 2013 and amazed gamers everywhere with its realistic graphics and fast paced gameplay and continued to impress gamers at this year’s E3 with the gameplay footage set on Christmas Day. The current release window for Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy MMO Third Person Shooter is 2015 which was revealed on May 15th this year when Ubisoft delayed the title from its original release window of 2014.

Unfortunately if the following rumor is true it looks like The Division could just end up skipping its 2015 release window and go straight into 2016. According to the rumor which comes straight from the inside source who revealed the game would be missing its 2014 release. The game is still not fully functional and right now the developers still can’t get the multiplayer functionality working in the concept stages which is why the source thinks that the 2015 date is “a tad bit optimistic”.

“We’ve been given increased resources, we’re hiring lots at the moment and are given a lot of help from other Ubisoft teams which is going to be needed if we are to deliver a finished game by next fall. Sadly I still think that the date is a tad bit optimistic as we still don’t have a functioning game and still have massive problems making our multiplayer component work at the concept stage.” He continued by saying “At the end of the day we don’t want to do a Battlefield 4 and release an unfinished game. There’s too much potential in the concept that is The Division at the moment, that we’ve asked for more time and resources in order to fully realise this fantastic vision. At the same time both we and our publisher are incredibly happy with our game engine and Ubisoft will naturally make use of it in lots of upcoming titles.” The Source finished it off by explaining the technical aspects about the complexity of the game. “Uncharted 3 has served as inspiration for the animations in the game. More than 1000 minor movements are triggered as the player crouches down behind a car door, behind a garbage can or skips over a stone.”

Tom Clancy’s The Division is currently slated for release sometime in 2015.
