Very recently, Rumors have been circulating the internet regarding Visceral Games; The Studio behind the highly popular Dead Space series working on a new game in the Battlefield Series as a spin-off to come out while DICE work on their next installments but more information has come to light thanks to Polygon.
Electronic Arts earlier this week let go of the contractors at the office and told full time staffers they could either take compensation and leave or continue working in the office to support work on Visceral’s rumored police themed Battlefield title; code named Havana. Sources say Havana is due out later this year.
So if this news is true then it means that we could be seeing a police themed Battlefield title in stores this year which in my opinion would be an interesting direction to take considering the Battlefield series revolves solely around War and if this is true, Then it could mean that EA have finally decided to go the same route as Activision and make Battlefield an annual series with Visceral Games doing it one year & then DICE the year after. I guess we all should have expected this by now but until we got confirmation on this take this rumor with a grain of salt.
We have reached out to EA for a statement and will keep you informed of our response. Thanks go to Polygon & VG Leaks.
So what do you make of this rumor? Would you like to see Battlefield become an Annual Series? How do you feel about the series getting a Police Entry? Have you played any of Visceral Game’s previous games?
