Today, Microsoft have revealed that they have their own plans to modify their digital pricing strategy for the Xbox One this year however they are not ready to reveal the full details on the changes to be made.
In a Reddit thread, Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, the communications manager for the new home console, states, “We are way aware of this and many of the concerns of the community – we have some great stuff planned for Xbox One this year (and beyond.) As soon as we can share some of the goodness…we will :)”
Both Sony and Microsoft have announced complex initiatives to promote digitally distributed content on their new platforms.
But, at the moment, it’s still more attractive for most players to pick up their content in stores.
For the Xbox One, Microsoft originally planned to make the console fully digital along with other plans however this was met to a negative reception from the fans and was ultimately changed to the Xbox One available in stores today.
The Xbox One is in stock at most retailers across America and in certain parts of Europe.
So what do you think of this? What great stuff do you think Microsoft have planned for Xbox One this Year? Do you hope they drop the prices to something more reasonable? Personally I’m hoping that great stuff includes a Conker Sequel/Reboot but anyway thats just me. The whole idea of digital content on consoles is something that doesn’t interest me. Usually with single player games I want to play the game then trade in. Digital content is overpriced and useless if the game has no replayability. However, if it was slashed to maybe half of what a physical copy retailed at then it would have my attention.
