OK everyone while this isn’t related to actual gaming; this bit of news is gaming related. So every year in October, Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida hold an event for Halloween called Halloween Horror Nights in which they bring some of the worlds greatest horror IPs to life including properties like The Evil Dead & The Walking Dead. Recently Universal officially confirmed that they are working with Capcom to bring the world of Resident Evil to life with a brand new horror maze.
Based on Resident Evil 2 & Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil: Escape from Raccoon City puts guests into the heart of pure terror as they must duck and dodge their way through the zombie infested streets of Raccoon City in a horrifying experience which will pit guests against Umbrellas terrifying creations such as the Zombies, Lickers, Hunters and even Nemesis himself. Other characters hinted to appear include protagonists Leon Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield & Carlos Olivera aswell as the series main antagonist, Albert Wesker. Other than these characters, Monsters that also have a chance at appearing include Zombie Dogs, Tyrants, William Birkin and many more common enemies.
When describing the maze, Universal mentioned quite a few details as to what was in store including information about the rooms. When asked about the rooms, Universal replied saying to visually test themselves; one of the rooms will be in a completely paused state as if the player has paused the game giving you the chance to see what lurks ahead. Another room was revealed to be the Raccoon City Police Station which has been recreated for guests to go head to head with Nemesis. The final bit of information revealed was something that will get the fans drooling, It has officially been revealed that either as you enter the maze or before you enter the maze; An announcer will shout in a chilling evil voice “Resident Evil”. Universal are doing this to make guests feel like they are really inside the game as you hear the exact same words when pressing start on the main menu of any title in the long running Capcom series. Check out the trailer below:
Halloween Horror Nights starts at the end of September and runs until November 2nd. As said at the beginning of the article, Resident Evil will be appearing at Universal Studios Orlando only and tickets are available now so if your a huge fan of horror (& Resident Evil) and you are in the area, Be sure to grab your tickets and witness the rise and fall of Umbrella first hand. For those of you who won’t be able to make it there, I will be attending and will do a full article about my experience when I get back to the UK.
So what do you think? Would you attend this if you could? How would you take down Nemesis? What Resident Evil Monster not mentioned above would you like to see make an apperance? Let me know in the comments below and be sure to stay tuned to UGNN for all your gaming news and reviews and be sure to keep an eye out in October for my impressions of Resident Evil: Escape from Raccoon City.
